@cdl81596 It's more efficient. But not for that reason. It's more efficient because it's under a constant power cycle, Meaning on a single rotor engine, you're getting a power impulse every rotation of the crankshaft. Vs. every two revs for a single cylinder piston engine.

If you can't get into that you should start a pre-apprenticeship course. I start my course in 1 weeks time and i hope it'll help a lot and get me into a career as a mechanic. i left it too late as i am just out of year 12, but you should start soon as you can

@madjimms again, 2SE is designed to run so. It's more fast but less powerful than 4SE. As you said, the design of 2SE is less complex than 4SE. Actually there are some scooters that run on unleaded, but you have to supply oil via a separate tank - the engine itself provides the mixture.

If you try to modify yourself keep in mind thet it can cost reliability. how you make it to shore when the engine blocks? A 2SE has lesser parts - actually you get rid of valves, oil pump and a lot of other things, but you still have to lubricate the piston and crankshaft - so you add oil to the fuel. 2SE are faster, but burns a lot of fuel and get hot rapidly. Furthermore they're more polluting, because you burn oil along with fuel and you have not a good stoichiometric control (can't vary time for valves opening and closing, and so on).

Loosely based on the Chevrolets of the day, but vastly improved. Lighter, more powerful for the size, and more efficient. GM's Australian division has been building them tough for a long time. They got that filter placement right the first time, why change it?

@FYI1337 Fiat can't really complain about "old" technology like pushrods; part of the excitement of Italian cars is whether or not you reach your destination. FIAT is short for Fabrica Industria Automobili Turin. In Australia it's disparagingly known as Fix It Again Tony. OHC will often do no better than pushrods under extreme conditions. some European manufacturers, in an effort to squeeze everything out of them, put the valves close enough to hit pistons if the cam chain snaps. Disappointing, such an "advanced" engine with pushrods, 2 valves per cylinder, even the oil filter is in the same place it was on the ancient 265 ci Chevy engine. No hemi, look at the old cast exhaust manifolds. I'm not that impressed, the new VW bugs have 5 valves per cylinder.. It does have a pretty plastic cover over the ignition wiring! I know, I know, it's reliable as a stone, but I'm amazed that these motors do as well as they do in racing.

Yes, as far as I know the cost of converting H2O into HHO would need more electricity than HHO can create. So you need cheap electricity. If you combine this technology with a watermill or windmill, it's green energy. This would solve the waist problem with the electric cars batteries, and it might be powerfull enough for bigger engines then cars too. I think it sounds geat. Too bad he got a patent, this should be free. The gass is also known as "browns gas" I think.

That is around 700 psi. 50 psi is considered to be a lot for a supercharger or a turbocharger, they are better for high volume of air at lower pressure. This brings us to Scuderi. Under the best case scenario it takes the rest of the world firing before TDC to have time for the fuel to burn and some of it goes out of the exhaust unburned. As you retard the timing this problem gets worse. Scuderi is moving fuel and air away from its ignition source and at the same time increasing the size of its combustion chamber and on top of that they are starting their ignition as much as 50 degrees later. In a conventional engine getting the fuel to completely burn as quickly as possible is the key to making an efficient engine. Here is a few tricks they use to burn fuel more quickly. Higher compression ratio. (compacts the air / fuel and creates compression heat) Leaner mixture. (burns hotter) Engines fire about 34 degrees before TDC. Thus, the ignition past TDC utilizes more gas per stroke to give it more power through the part of the stroke that has the best transmission of power. @daenumen you fail to mention the "firing past TDC" feature of this engine. The further past TDC it is ignited, the more power will be transferred to rotation. At TDC the power transmuted to rotation is zerro. At 15* past TDC the power transmission is 25% and at 90* it is near 100% . The closer you get to 90* before ignition the more power you will get from the ignition.

It uses the kinetic energy (heat) of the exhaust to drive the intake side of the turbo. Fresh air is drawn in through the air filter, travels to the intake side of the turbo, is compressed by the turbo. After air leaves the turbo it is routed to the intercooler for a temperature drop allowing the compressed air to condense (whole other explanation), then!!! Cont,,,,,,

Engine exhaust is never circulated back through the engine, but instead goes through a turbine (1:10), which is connected to an impeller via a small shaft. The major problem with Sterling engines is that they cannot produce enough torque to be converted into a useful working energy.. well, unless we made a Sterling engine 40 stories tall I guess.. But using that much space and materials to create such a monster would be in the end counter productive. and wasteful. Way back when, they wanted to couple these on geothermal ducts, but why do that when you could just convert steam to mechanical energy or electricity.

You seem to think the chambers have liquid in them, they don't. The styrofoam material is an insulator, as it is moved from top to bottom it isolates the source of heat and cold alternately. (relative terms) The air inside consequently expands or contracts causing the piston to move, this in turn operates the styrofoam thing (displacer) causing the cycle to be repeated. The Stirling engine was invented by a priest who was concerned about the dangers of steam engines.

@armando117 Well, fuel injection systems are simpler with respect to how many parts they have and how complex the parts are. But fuel injection systems are controlled by incredibly complex computers, where as carburetors function only with their mechanical parts. So overall, carburetors are much simpler. Each row of compressor blades is only capable of increasing the pressure so much unlike a recip. engine where pressure increases much more rapidly.

@ollamanfuse That is a definitely oversimplified view of a combustor but you have to think of what's in front of the combustor, the compressor This component creates a net pressure gradient, the direction of this gradient should be obvious and as you put it, would convince those listening to Frank Whittle to invest their money into his project. If the compressor weren't there then you're right the gases would be subject to minor pressure differences and the potential for creating thrust is ~none

As far as I'm concerned He is a noble gas and very unreactive while O2 is the main gas animals need for respiration. Also the energy required to undergo "molecular nuclear fusion" is much greater than nuclear fission, which requires even more energy than the jet engine can even produce... @GalacticoAR Kerosine is (with petroleum) fuel with worst chemical properties. You can however run your old diesel car on it. Also, I used to fly Cessna 172 with Thielert Diesel specially aviation-designed engine. You can put pure everyday diesel in it. Or to get you cost really down, just kerosine. You get great economy and range on it also. Normal C172 (normally aspirated Lycoming ot Continental engine) will give you approx 600nm range. Thielert Diesel in the same aircraft will give you 750nm.

@GalacticoAR You can't just use any fuel, cause of the chemical properties. Avgas (or motor gas, the one you put in your car) is more explosive, to push the pistons around. Kerosine (aka JET A-1), does not explode, it burns "slowly", which is needed, as ignitor plugs do not work all the time (as in cars), but just on a start up. Except on rainy days where engine can flame out. There is a swich in the cockpit to select continuous operation.
